Sweet Rice

Sweet Rice is a family-owned and operated Thai restaurant located in Chicago's Bucktown neighborhood. They serve up delicious and authentic Thai street food, with a focus on rice dishes. Their signature dish is the Khao Soi, which is a creamy curry noodle soup. They also have a wide variety of other rice dishes, as well as noodles, dumplings, and other Thai favorites.

The interior design mimics that of a traditional food stall that you would find in Thailand - even down to the corrugated steel awning above the order counter and viewable kitchen.

Thai food is a diverse and delicious cuisine that can be enjoyed with a variety of wines and beers. The key to pairing wine or beer with Thai food is to find wines or beers that can complement the flavors of the food without overpowering them. Here are some tips to help you decide what to bring:

Wine

White wines are a good choice for pairing with Thai food because they tend to be light and refreshing, which can help to cut through the richness and spiciness of the food. Aim for something with crisp acidity like a Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, or Gewürztraminer.  Sparkling Wines are another option that work very well. Red wines, however, tend to struggle with Thai cuisine. Either they are too distracting with their tannins, or too light and get overpowered by the spices.

Beer

Beers can be a great option for Thai food. A light, crisp Lager will help cut through the richness and spiciness of the dishes. IPAs, especially double dry hopped (DDH) IPAs, can complement the dishes wonderfully with their notes of juicy, tropical fruits.
