Alice and Friends' Vegan Kitchen
Alice and Friends' Vegan Kitchen is an Asian-inspired, 100% vegan, BYOB restaurant in the Edgewater neighborhood on Chicago's far northeast side. Their menu includes several appetizers such as dumplings, satay, crispy spring rolls, and agedashi tofu. Their entrees include classic takes on Asian dishes such as Walnut Shrimp, Chow Mein, Pho, Curry, Kung Pao Ding, and Ramen. Everything is 100% plant based, but even meat-eaters will find that the food is loaded with flavor, especially umami!
Wines and beers are permitted. Here are some tips on what to bring:
Wine
White wines with good acidity such as Sauvignon Blanc or Riesling will pair wonderfully with the cuisine. Champagne/Sparkling Wine will always work well at any point during the meal! For Red wine, opt for a medium bodied red with nice fruit characteristics such as a Pinot Noir or lighter Zinfandel. If you are planning on dessert, a Sauternes or Ice Wine would be killer with that lemon cake!
Beer
Consider a hoppy IPA to complement the richness of many of the sauced dishes. Alternatively, bring a crisp Pale Ale to cut through the heat of some of the spicier options. If you order the carrot cake, a robust Stout would contrast the sweetness wonderfully.
